[2009-11-30 Mon] Some parts

I bought a VO Porteur chaincase, and some Honjo 45mm hammered fenders from Velo Orange.

I'm not sure if the chaincase ever became part of this bike, but I do remember at least trying to mount it.

The fenders got painted brown and have been part of all the builds.

[2011-08-09 Tue] Bought bike bits

It looks like I started this build with a Velocity Deep V fixed gear wheelset in brown.

I bought the Pake C'mute frame (56cm), Civia Hyland Steel Fork (1-1/8" threadless, post disc mount), and a front disc hub.

It looks like I rebuilt the front wheel with the disc hub.

I guess from the beginning I intended this to support fixed and multi-gear configurations because I put downtube shifters on before I had other geared parts.

The FSA Vero crankset got an Origin8 chainring for fixed gear mode.

I put moustache bars initially, but I got hold of a NOS pair of Tektro 301 brake levers to use with wide GT bullhorn bars.

[2026-03-20 Fri] Rack and a bell

I got a 'Geebul' H319 Cargo Rack, and a bell (received free for review).

The rack is a flat pack style so the legs bolt onto a top platform. It claims up to 55 lbs load. I sat on it briefly (150 lbs) and it seemed quite sturdy.

I didn't care for the telescoping support arms, and I had my preferred style in the parts bin so I used them instead.

I mounted a B+M Toplight Line Plus.

The bell was sold by 'YBLNTEK', but has an 'R' logo I don't recognize. It has a good tone. The plastic mount kind of sucks.

[2026-03-29 Sun] Painting fenders and Bagman support

I decided to ditch the brown fender paint. Used a wire wheel to remove it from the outside surface and fender stays. I just sanded the inside paint to give it a fresh surface.

For the paint I had some flat black oil-based protective enamel. I wiped it all down with acetone, and primed it with a sandable automotive primer I was reviewing.

After looking at the flat black primer, I decided flat black would collect grime inside the fender so I got out some old glossy enamel to put there. That old paint had an IBM number.

[2026-05-16 Sat] First outer coat on fenders

First coat on the fenders and stays. Forgot to paint the Bagman support, but I'll get it during the second coat.
